Self Portrait

January 2025

Materials: Watercolor, acrylic gouache, colored pencil, black inking pen

This piece focuses on the rage I feel regarding the political climate and injustices being dealt to marginalized groups in the United States. The animalistic appearance with the glare and snarl from the portrait dares the viewer to challenge the individual in the portrait with the fear of her wrath. The blood splattering the woman’s face implies she has already been fighting, and she will continue to do so.
