Boys will be bugs

Processes: Selection tools, Adjustment layers, and Layer masks to create a photo collage

Ideas: In the album cover, I wanted to use the stereotype of young boys using a magnifying glass to burn ants, but alter it. To do this, I had the bug looking through the magnifying glass rather than the young boy. The selections I made varied from trying to look more realistic to making a stark difference to make it look more like a collage. For example I added shading underneath the bee and behind the tape on the butterflies to add a little realism, but used more sharp selections for the grass and magnifying glass to make them appear more cut out. Another example of making it appear more realistic is enlarging the bee that can be seen in the magnifying glass to make it appear magnified. I also pushed collage elements by "taping" cut out images of butterflies to the background.
